Meeting Your Social Media Needs!

By Katie Maricic Cohen

The NJLA CUS/ACRL-NJ Marketing and Communications Committee wants to spread our organization’s message in a way that will reach you- our ever loyal members- NJ academic librarians. Back in October, we asked you to tell us how you use social media. You responded and now we are planning to meet your needs!

Survey results showed that a lot of you would like to follow NJLA CUS/ACRL-NJ on social media, yet many are not currently doing so. If you want to get the latest updates, follow our Twitter and Facebook pages. Many of you responded that you are on Twitter and Facebook, so we decided to improve these pages which already exist instead of creating new ones on less-used platforms.

That being said, we see that a lot of you are also on LinkedIn. While we would also like to meet your needs, right now we want to focus on improving our existing Twitter and Facebook pages before expanding to another platform. In the meantime, follow the “New Jersey Library Association (NJLA)” LinkedIn page to get the latest updates from the NJ library world and hear more about the upcoming conference!

Since more than half of you check your Facebook and Twitter accounts daily, we will work hard to update more often and keep you informed about the latest NJ academic library news. Many of you expressed the type of content that you would like to see from a professional development organization’s social media page, and we heard you. In the future, check our Facebook and Twitter for information about professional development opportunities, events at NJ libraries, the latest library news and trends, photos, and updates about colleagues throughout the state.
