The Information Literacy Progression Standards have been produced by academic librarians working in two and four-year colleges across the state of New Jersey.
They are based on the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) "Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education" but also incorporate good practice examples from institutions throughout New Jersey and other parts of the United States.
Librarians were assembled from three different working groups the Shared Information Literacy Committee (now defunct) of VALE -NJ , the Academic Reference Librarians of CJRLC (now defunct), and the User Education Committee of the ACRL-NJ Chapter/NJLA College & University Section User Education Committee.
